To each new engagement, Connie brings her leadership experiences working in nonprofit, private, and public companies across diverse industries, including scientific research and health IT, data processing, government contracting, education, and SaaS business-to-business product delivery.
Previously, Connie served as VP/CIO at the American Kennel Club (AKC), the internationally-known nonprofit canine advocacy organization. In this role, she established the organization’s technology road map, oversaw IT operations and software development functions, and served on the corporate management team. Connie was recruited back to the AKC in 2012 to serve as CIO after having built a successful internal consulting practice for the organization. As the AVP for Internal Consulting, she built a dynamic team of consultants, facilitated the Board’s strategic planning efforts, conducted efficiency and organizational assessments, and developed implementation plans aligned to the organization’s business strategy.
Connie’s career experiences also include tenures as a Program Director at Duke University, Director of Global MIS at Channel Advisor, Inc., and Principal/Deputy Program Manager at SRA International, providing enterprise IT support at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. In these positions, Connie oversaw summer educational programs at campuses across the United States, managed IT corporate infrastructure for eight locations around the globe, and led integration efforts following multiple acquisitions.
Known for her ability to form collaborative relationships and inspire high-performing teams, Connie believes effective leaders listen intently to their staff, their colleagues, and their customers. She strives to communicate clear goals and vision and establish a culture of high expectations coupled with good humor and respect. Connie serves as a mentor, modeling an accountable, servant-leadership approach, recognizing strong performances, and addressing challenges directly.
Connie graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and received a certificate in secondary education from East Carolina University. She is a graduate of the SRA Trusted Advisor program and the CMMI-SVC and PMP boot camps.
